DIVERSE           VISUAL       EXPERIENCE

Inclusion in Art and the Norman Arts Council partner to bring Celebracion to Mainsite Gallery in June!

CELEBRACION is rejoicing of the contributions of Latino artists living in Oklahoma. The Latino community is well-known for its culture, customs and festivals, but has not been widely recognized in the state for their visual artists. The Latino movement of artists is quiet but substantial in Oklahoma. The range of work coming from these artists is just as diverse and multilayered as the people of the Latino community.

AND...FINALLY THE JONES' HAVE ARRIVED!

Racial Diversity in Visual Art

Diversity in the visual arts is not only important for reasons of inclusion, but also for the cause of cultural growth and understanding. Our racial differences in society are also present in our creative sector. Although the creative/artistic community has historically been more open and accepting of people regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation, there is still segregation and omission in the arts. Oklahoma has shown signs of growth and progression in addressing the lack of participation in the main arts community by artists of color. The situation is improving through initiatives such as Inclusion in Art. By providing minority artists resources and opportunities, we are also helping our art community grow through exposure to these artists. It is mutually beneficial for those institutions of the arts who want to be more inclusive and the artists who are looking to contribute their gift of creating..

Inclusion in Art continues to strive for more innovate presentations and concepts to further enrich and diversify the Oklahoma arts community
