About the
Exhibition
This
juried exhibition is part of a series exploring the four elements of Hip Hop
culture; rapping, graffiti breakdancing, and deejaying. CIPHER, the first of
these events, explores rap (lyricism) and related genres through visual art.
Works must relate to lyricism in hip hop or a kindred genre such as slam
poetry and spoken work. Artists may collaborate with other artists on work. Artists are asked to submit artwork reflective of that concept. All mediums
will be considered for the exhibition. 2-D works must be ready to hang with
proper backing, sculptural and installation work must be able to endure for
the duration of the exhibition.
